Ai Ai delas Alas is no longer pursuing the physical abuse case she filed May of last year against ex-husband, businessman Jed Salang.
The comedienne revealed that she has withdrawn the case as part of their divorce agreement, which was granted recently by a Las Vegas court.
“Tapos na ‘yun (case) noon pa. Kaya lang hindi puwede i-discuss unless tapos na ‘yung divorce,” she said in a taped interview on “Startalk.”
She clarified that it was Jed who sought for the divorce and that her withdrawal of the physical abuse case is “’Yun ang kapalit nun…”
Despite the “closure,” the 49-year-old mother of three admitted that she still has “mixed emotions” about being single again.
“Siyempre masaya ako kasi parang ito na ‘yung closure ng paga-asawa ko pero… may certain sadness din sa puso ko. Siyempre wala namang babaeng gusto na (maging) deborsyada. Siyempre lahat ng babaeng nag-asawa, ang goal niyan ay matagal ang magiging pagsasama nila,” she explained.
Adding to that, she pointed out,“In my heart, yes (I’m willing to forgive), pero hindi pa ako ready na makipag-usap or makipag heart-t0-heart talk. Siguro sa sarili ko, in my heart, kaya kong magpatawad para sa peace of mind ko.”
Notwithstanding the breakup, Ai Ai shared that she has maintained good relations with Jed’s father, disclosing that it was the latter who relayed news about the Las Vegas court decision.
She shared that the older Salang even sent his condolences during the death of her biological mom recently. “Ever since naman my father-in-law is a very decent man. I think, isa ‘yun sa dahilan (kung) bakit tinuloy ko pa o bakit ako nakisama kay Jed, nagtiis ako kasi mabait ‘yung father-in-law ko sa akin,” she said.

More than eight months after their fairlytale wedding turned into court room drama, comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas and businessman Jed Salang are finally divorced.
The Las Vegas court has granted the petition to terminate the civil union that they entered into on April 3, 2013 at The Venetian Hotel in the US.
“Divorce decree now issued. I just checked the LV court website,” announces delas Alas in a 15-minute slide show on Instagram, accompanied by background music of Kool & The Gang’s “Celebration.”
She attached a caption that read: “100% SINGLE #movingon #movingforward #thankyoulord #happiness #2014pasabog #gandangpanimula.”
The 49-year-old mother didn’t mention when she exactly worked out their divorce, but she went to the US in June and November last year.
Apart from putting her candid photo in the slide show, the comedienne also hinted at the possibility of falling in love again.
“Wanted by many, taken by none, lookin at someone, waiting for one,” read her post.
Delas Alas has been posting inspirational messages on Instagram about courage and faith in God, following challenges that beset her in the past year and the passing of her biological mom.
Delas Alas broke up with her ex-husband on May 2, 2013, almost a month after exchanging I Dos.
She admitted having come to her senses after supposedly being on the receiving end of physical maltreatment as well as “confirming” his allegedly questionable intentions in getting into a relationship with her.
As in years past, showbiz was not lacking in squabbles, with some ending in courtroom drama. Here are 2013’s star-powered feuds that became fodder for headlines:
· The Barretto feud that involves Claudine, Gretchen and Marjorie is likely the nosiest hullabaloo this year, made louder with the ruckus that is Claudine’s marriage to Raymart Santiago down the line.
What started as “konting tampuhan” between them, at least according to Raymart, escalated to several cases filed against each other, based on such allegations as physical abuse all the way to invasion of privacy via wire-tapping. It’s a long, long marital battle likely to end in annulment.
· A month after exchanging I do’s in Las Vegas, Ai Ai delas Alas broke up with husband Jed Salang on May 2, which the comedienne herself confirmed in her heart-wrenching, emotional interview on “The Buzz,” May 19.
She alleged to have suffered physical maltreatment in his hands.
“Hinahagis ako sa kama, sampalan, bunuan. Nu’ng araw na ‘yon, kasi parang feeling ko ‘yung time na hinila niya ‘ko sa sahig at kinaladkad niya ‘ko, do’n ko na-realize na hindi ko na ‘to kaya,” Ai Ai said.
The comedienne has sought a protection order followed by a formal complaint against Jed for allegedly violating the R. A. 9262.
Jed has yet to air his side of the story to media. However, he has scored Ai Ai for granting media interviews that he deemed a violation of the gag order issued by the court.
Walang katotohanan naman ’yan,” said James Yap last March 2o in addressing the petition filed by his ex-wife, Kris Aquino, for a TPO, that was granted on March 15.
And what exactly was James refuting? His alleged sexual advances towards Kris that were done in front of their supposed traumatized son, Bimby, during his visit on Dec. 3, 2012, almost a year after their civil marriage was officially over.
The Queen of All Media granted interviews on the matter to several news programs. “Sinasabi niya (James) na I was making faces, na umarte lang ako, para mapaniwala ko si Bimby na sinasaktan ako. Ito lang, matalino ang anak ko. Alam niya kung ano ang totoo,” the actress said in one of them.
These days, James can’t go near Kris but he can – and does – see his son, Bimby.
· Cesar Montano’s alleged romantic affair with one of his film co-stars was supposedly the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Sunshine Cruz, along with their three daughters, moved out of her conjugal home with Cesar. Later, an incident involving the children, prompted her to sue him for alleged violation of R. A. 9262, owing to a supposed rape incident that happened on Mother’s Day, May 12. He called the accusation “preposterous.”
“Hindi ko na nakita ang mga anak ko. Hindi ko alam kung bakit ganoon. That’s why I decided to do this already. I just want to see my children and yung karapatan ko bilang babae, masyado na tayong natatapakan,” Sunshine said in explaining her legal move against Cesar.
Through his lawyer, Atty. Joel Ferrer, the actor stressed that the children wanted to stay with him.
Ai Ai delas Alas is open to being friends again with ex-husband Jed Salang years from now.
Speaking on “Buzz ng Bayan” on Sunday, delas Alas said that with the court granting the protection order she requested, she and Salang won’t be able to talk or see each other for a long time.
“Bawal sa aming mag-usap, bawal sa aming mag-text or anything. Siguro pagdating ng panahon. Siguro mga five years or 10 years from now, baka,” she said.
Delas Alas confirmed that legal processes over the annulment of their marriage are underway.
Asked what she learned from the failed marriage, delas Alas said: “Not to be too trusting.”
Delas Alas admitted, however, that she also had shortcomings that led to their separation.
“Parati kong pagkakamali, madali akong mag-react eh,” she explained. “Kunyari galit, maigsi ang pasensya ko. Tapos may nasasabi akong hindi maganda or masakit, hindi ko na mabawi.”
The actress maintained that she has since learned to quell her temper.
“Ngayon, kapag galit na galit ako, (I would invoke the name of) ‘Jesus, Jesus’ mga 10 times,” she said.
Last May, Delas Alas filed a case against Salang claiming physical abuse. Their marriage lasted for a month.
Notwithstanding her personal problems this year, comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas still has reasons to feel blessed.
As she celebrates her 49th birthday, the Marian devotee shares her prayers on Instagram, specifically for the strength in weathering her storms.
“MARAMING SALAMAT GOD/MAMA MARY SA ARAW NA ITO…maraming salamat sa buhay na ibinigay mo saken .. sa lahat ng mga pagsubok na dinaanan ko na hanggang ngayun ay nakatayo pa din ako at lumalaban sa buhay,” she posted on Monday.
Recall that Ai Ai had martial woes with her estranged husband Jed Salang, whom she married in Las Vegas last April and broke up with her after a month.
Ai Ai is also grateful that her family and friends remain by her side, and for her talents.
“salamat sa mga magagandang mga anak ko , sa aking mga magulang at kapatid.. mga mababait kong kaibigan … thank din at sa edad kong to mganda pa din ako hehee ( CHOS) … higit sa lahat salamat sa TALENT na ibinigay mo saken dahil maraming akong napapasayang tao hindi lang sa pilipinas kundi sa lahat ng sulok ng mundo na may mga pilipino at tfc..” she continued.
Ai Ai declared: “I HAVE A GOOD LIFE … IAM HAPPY ..”
Ai Ai is in the US with her children and some friends.
It is her first time to celebrate her birthday abroad.
Meanwhile, her eldest son, Sancho, posted greetings to his “original girlfriend.”
“Happy birthday to my original girlfriend! mama @aiaidelasalas #iloveyou,” read his caption, along with a photo of their two.
The delighted mother replied then: “I LOVE YOU BABY BOY MA MI MISS KITA BEBE….”
With the public wanting something new all the time, many celebrities feel it’s an uphill battle to keep a romantic relationship going once it has been revealed. It is said that after seeing a union of their favorite stars, some people get bored with it and await the separation as if it’s the next, inevitable step for such high-profile affairs.
Marian Rivera’s romance with long-time boyfriend Dingdong Dantes, however, is horse of a different color. Asked how they’ve managed to make the relationship last, Marian cited love, trust and respect as among their secrets. Apparently, these are the same things that make them jive or “swak na swak.”
She lauds Dingdong for his unending support. Among all her achievements, she considers him one of her greatest “panalo moment(s).”
“Si Dingdong nandiyan para i-guide ako, para mahalin ang totoong Marian Rivera,” she said.
They are head over heels in love with each other but wedding bells must stay silent for now. Apparently, the 29-yer-old actress chooses to make hay while the sun shines. Among future projects are a soap and a sitcom on GMA-7.
Marian also co-produced “Kung Fu Divas” co-starring Ai Ai delas Alas, a hat she probably will wear again if the venture is embraced by her public.
“Mukhang hindi ako madadalang gumawa (ng bagong pelikula). Siyempre, depende (pa rin) sa response ng tao. Kung ano ang magiging outcome ng ‘Kung Fu Divas,’ kung magiging maganda siguro, baka mag-part two kami,” she said.
There are plans to screen “Kung Fu Divas” in other countries, specifically Cambodia.
The actress recently renewed her contract as Talk ‘N Text ambassador. The company is holding simultaneous screenings of “Kung Fu Divas” in six cinemas nationwide as a reward to their loyal subscribers.
